DGI Tourism Project

About the Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Developing interactive, participatory and lean teaching approaches that boost sustainable thinking in vocational education and training in tourism.

The DGI TOURISM project seeks to adapt the vocational education and training (VET) offering to the challenges of the digital age and climate change, innovatively accommodating post-Covid travel sector needs that enable a smooth transition towards more sustainable strategies and futureproofing the tourism sector.

DGI Tourism Project

Project Objectives

Promoting sustainable thinking in vocational education and training in tourism.

01.

Establish a novel training methodological framework for the VET sector

that contributes to socio-environmental challenges, like travel sustainability and the fight against climate change to allow travel professionals to adapt to new market trends and requirements, thus, boosting their employability.

02.

Develop adaptable and transferable training material by tourism experts

for use across different countries and disciplines with an interest in sustainable service delivery in the

hospitality and transportation sectors.

03.

Propose a path for tourism professionals to adapt to post-covid market needs

improving their digital and green skills and competencies and balancing skills acquisition with work-based learning.

04.

Perform trials and assess results, offer feedback to VET centres

the project aims to deliver, test, and iteratively evaluate all project findings. Practical guidelines will be developed for trainers based on the evaluation results while providing feedback to interested VET centres.
